Navigator membership

What is a Navigator Session?

A Navigator Session is a focused, private appointment between a member and a KinVouch Navigator. During the 30-minute session:

  1. 1The member explains one primary situation or concern.
  2. 2The Navigator asks questions and reviews relevant information.
  3. 3The member and Navigator identify the desired outcome.
  4. 4The Navigator helps determine appropriate options and resources.
  5. 5They create a practical next-step plan.
  6. 6Responsibilities and deadlines are documented.
  7. 7A follow-up plan is established when appropriate.

After the session

The member receives a written dashboard summary containing:

  • The concern discussed
  • The desired outcome
  • Recommended next steps
  • Relevant organizations and resources
  • Documents that may be needed
  • The member’s responsibilities
  • KinVouch’s agreed-upon responsibilities
  • Important deadlines
  • The next scheduled action

My Life Update™

A separate 15-minute monthly check-in that helps your Navigator stay familiar with meaningful changes in your life and spot concerns that may need future support. Members may discuss:

  • Housing changes
  • Employment or education updates
  • Upcoming deadlines
  • Important appointments
  • New concerns
  • Progress since the previous month
  • Changes to approved contacts
  • Recent accomplishments
  • Whether an existing case still requires attention

The Navigator adds a brief dated summary to the member’s private timeline. If the update reveals a specific issue requiring research or follow-through, the member may request that it become an active case.

Active cases

What is an active case?

An active case is one specific concern that currently receives individualized Navigator attention.

Examples

  • Finding housing-assistance options after receiving a landlord notice
  • Locating the correct veterans’ organization for a particular need
  • Organizing steps for replacing missing identification
  • Finding temporary pet-support resources during hospitalization
  • Identifying senior transportation or meal-delivery resources
  • Preparing the member to contact a benefits agency
  • Locating appropriate legal-aid organizations

A case may include

  • Reviewing the member’s situation
  • Reviewing related documents
  • Researching appropriate resources
  • Finding the correct organization or department
  • Preparing questions or a document checklist
  • Making limited authorized inquiries
  • Waiting for an outside organization to respond
  • Following up within membership limits
  • Recording the result

One case at a time

Only one case receives active Navigator work at a time. Members may submit another concern, but it will remain queued until the active case is closed or paused.

A case may be closed when

  • The stated goal has been reached
  • Appropriate resources or instructions have been provided
  • The matter has been transferred to a qualified organization
  • No additional action is available within KinVouch’s role
  • The member asks to stop
  • The member does not respond after the established follow-up process

Request and case statuses

  • Submitted
  • Under Review
  • More Information Needed
  • Resource Guidance Prepared
  • Queued
  • Active
  • Waiting on Member
  • Waiting on Outside Organization
  • Follow-Up Scheduled
  • Resolved
  • Closed

Closed cases remain visible in the member’s history subject to KinVouch’s retention policy.

Service boundaries

What KinVouch is — and is not

KinVouch provides navigation, organization, resource connections, informational support and limited follow-through within membership guidelines.

KinVouch is not:

  • An emergency-response provider
  • A healthcare provider
  • A mental-health provider
  • A law firm
  • A financial adviser
  • A lender
  • An insurance company
  • A guardian
  • A transportation company
  • A government agency
  • A benefits decision-maker
  • The Department of Veterans Affairs
  • A replacement for licensed professionals
  • A guarantee of housing, employment, benefits, funding or services

When specialized expertise is required, KinVouch helps members locate an appropriately qualified organization or professional.
